What is pyrolysis?

Pyrolysis is the thermal decomposition of materials at high temperatures. It involves a change of chemical composition and is irreversible. The word is derived from the Greek word "pyro" meaning fire and "lysis" meaning separating. The process is used in the chemical industry to produce ethylene from petroleum with which PVC and other polymers can be made. We use this method to convert waste plastics back into usable, good quality fuel-oil.
